It is situated next to Barcelona’s Ciutadella Park, just a 15-minute walk from Barceloneta Beach. Also you are carrying your luggage. No one there to help you out on the four story climb. This modern student residence offers functional rooms with a small kitchenette and free wired internet. Don't forget to turn off the communal noisy tv before the midnight if you'll have the great luck to stay on the first floor. Pay cash! It's more cheap then paying with the card. This is an experience never to be repeated. Another serious problem is the owner.Rude, very nervous, unprofessional man.I felt like being treated not as a guest but as an enemy. Wifi works sometimes, very slow, bad connection. In my first day the connection to internet failed. I choose to eat in the city. There are places to eat in the area but with limited choices. Two big supermarkets in the Old City if you want to buy water, juice, beer.A bottle of water in this hostel is two euro. Nothing about the breakfast, not included in the price I've paid. The second room was basic, without fridge or aircon, old furniture, uncomfortable bed.But I had a little balcony with a splendid view. Paid a single room but I got a complimentary "upgrade" to a double room situated on the first floor. The first floor was the worst, of course.Very noisy room, situated in proximity of the reception and the communal area.An enormous tv made an infernal noise all the time.It was impossible to sleep. Finally, after two nights a receptionist gave me another room situated on the third floor. If you have any mobility problems, be careful. There is no lift and you have to carry your suitcases up to the stairs.80 difficult stairs to the last floor. I have just returned from a five nights stay at this hostel a little disappointed.Great location, decent price of the room.In two minutes it is possible to see the Old Town. In all and all I would stay at the hotel again in a heartbeat!!! It is severely underpriced for the services you get and the quality of the room. The call/ Internet center is closed on Sunday and the lady there is very sweet. I could call the US for 5 cents a minute!! Sorry but my cellphone plan couldn't beat that and they are open every night until 11. The hotel is also next to a international call and Internet center. There was a lovely down comforter and the bed was one of the comfiest ever. The room was large and spacious, and bright. The bed sheets were from the feel a pretty high thread count. I imagine it would be fantastic if you were with a group of friends and all booked the four rooms around that area. Although on the second floor where my friend stayed there was actually a glass enclosed area with sofas and tables to socialize in. Thank goodness only having to go up on floor with the suitcase. I ended up in a room right next to the desk. When I did check in the checkin was great with the desk person showing me how the heater, TV, and shower worked. Also we seemed to be the only ones currently checked into the hotel. I did not select the breakfast option as I had that available at school. My bank has a pretty good exchange rate so I figured I paid about €18-€19 per day. I paid for my room for three days which I charged to my bank card and the total was $81. Really only one or two of the desk people have any kind of English know how but are ALL amazingly accommodating in trying to figure out what you need. I went over and took a peek at his room and loved it. My fellow classmate had recommended it as he was staying there and loved it. I stayed at the hotel when I was having heating issues with my original accommodations booked by my school. I would definitely stay again at this hotel if I went back to Ciutadella - which I hope to do in the near future! More Show less The staff was very friendly and they all gave us good tips to visit the island. The breakfast buffet was quite good and varied, and the coffee was made at the guest's request by the receptionist and it was therefore much better than in most economic hotels. As we did not have any special requirements for a lift, the walk upstairs was fine with us. There is no lift, so I'd suggest that you inform the management prior to your stay in case that's an issue. Our room was on the fourth floor and close to a big communal terrace. We booked the cheapest option for 2 people, which included a room and breakfast for € 32 per night. The hotel is located very close to the centre of Ciutadella and close to a public parking which is quite busy but where you can usually find a parking spot. We stayed three nights at the Menurka Hostal in June and we had a very positive experience.
